That the COP27 in Egypt is an opportunity for the authoritarian regime to wash itself green and white, while repressing civil society is clear for the movement by now. Most are also aware of the fact that there was hardly any protest possible during the COP. This article now asks what legitimacy political processes have from which civil society is deliberately excluded and states legitimacy of the outcomes of this COP can at all only be given if Alaa Abdel Fattah is released.
